Schools teach it deliberately now, because the research (see CASEL, the field's leading organization) links it to better behavior, better relationships, and even better academics.

The cardinal SEL-at-home rule: stories first, morals never. Read for fun. Ask about characters, not your child ("Which booth does Sparklo need?"). Reference episodes in real moments ("Is this a Big Disagreement? What's the Ultimate Fun Machine here?"). The lessons transfer precisely because they were never lectures.
